More than One hundred police operatives in Anambra State have completed intensive combat and arms drilling training.
The operatives, drawn from various ranks including twenty-six corporals, thirteen sergeants, and sixty-one constables both male and female underwent the rigorous training at the Police College in Oji River.
In a Statement the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State Tochukwu Ikenga explains that the training focused on critical skills such as arms handling, combat readiness, and drill discipline.
According to the statement the training aims at enhancing the effectiveness of the operatives in protecting lives and property.
At the passing-out ceremony, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, represented by the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations, Mr Ibrahim Ezekiel commended the leadership of the Nigeria Police for approving the training.
The Commissioner acknowledged the magnanimity of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo in sponsoring the programme as part of efforts to strengthen the operations of security agencies in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Governor, the Special Adviser on Security, Air Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi, retired, described the initiative as a deliberate step by the state government to promote peace, stability, and public safety in Anambra.
The newly trained personnel are expected to be deployed to strategic locations in the state to reinforce security operations and sustain proactive policing.
