Over one thousand Business operators from across Nigeria have gathered in Umuahia, the Abia state capital to brainstorm and foster solutions on challenges being faced the business.

Speaking at the business roundtable summit at the International Conference Center, Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti says his administration is determined to play a leading role in rebuilding the economic foundations aimed at attracting private investment and restore business confidence in the state.

The Governor noted that the Roundtable meeting was designed to ensure that government policies reflect the expectations of the Private Sector Stakeholders, stressing that government’s responsibility is to create a system that protects investors’ legitimate interests and signals long-term stability.

According to him, the global debate on the role of government in economic management remains unresolved, but his administration has adopted a pragmatic middle course that prioritises incentives, infrastructure and stability rather than direct control of businesses.

The Governor assured investors that the State would continue to deepen infrastructure development, Human Capital Investment and encouraged them to engage with the Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion Office to facilitate seamless collaboration.

Speaking on behalf of the Aba business community, Chief David Ogba-Onuoha commended Governor Otti for fostering collaboration between government and the private sector noting that infrastructure development and reforms by the State Government signified that Abia is open for investment.

Earlier in his opening remarks, DG/CEO, Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion, Mr Chinedum Chijioke described the roundtable as a practical engagement to refine policies, remove barriers and build long-term partnerships that would drive shared prosperity and position Abia as a leading investment hub in the region.

Participants at the event including Mrs Chioma Oforkaja, Mr Kenechukwu Nwankwo and Chief Edwin Igbokwe amongst others all thanked the Governor for gathering business operators across Nigeria to foster solutions to ailing businesses.

Correspondent Peace Agbo reports that the theme of the one day summit is “Abia business Roundtable : where Vision meets Enterprise” also featured questions and answers segments.
