The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has pledged to sustain its collaboration with Enugu state government to advance the achievements recorded in key areas especially, children and women health, wellbeing, protection and development.

The Officer in Charge, UNICEF, Enugu Field Office, Mrs Judith Leveillee stated this in a message to the 2025 End of Year Review and Consultations held in Enugu.

The one day End of Year Review and Consultations with Key Ministries, Department and Agencies, implementing UNICEF supported activities in Enugu State was organised by the Enugu State Economic Planning Commission with support from UNICEF.

The Review is also part of Federal government and UNICEF Programme of Cooperation, 2023 to 2027.

In a keynote address, Mrs Leveillee explained that the objectives of the Consultations were appraising critical lessons learned, including emerging trends and changing priorities.

She also stated that the engagement aims to set or adjust programme directions,refining interventions and targets for the coming year.

In another key presentation, the Executive Secretary, Enugu State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Ifeyinwa Ani-Osheku noted that the period from birth to two years of age is the critical window for the promotion of optimal growth, health and development in children.

This she noted among other things necessitated strong Enugu State and UNICEF collaboration and interventions, ensuring access to health, nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene services by the people especially children and women.

There were also presentations by frontline workers in key Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as UNICEF Specialists on achievements in these critical sectors facilitated by the collaboration as well as challenges and plans for the coming year.
