Tragic fire disaster was averted at number twenty-eight Umuaniachi Street, by Meniru Bus stop, Agbani Road, Enugu, including adjoining buildings owing to the timely intervention of Enugu State Fire Service and some good samaritans.

The Fire which started at the ground floor of the four storey building, had thick smoke bellowing above the building.

However some of the residents of the area, commenced throwing water at the raging inferno, while Enugu State Fire Service immediately mobilized to the scene having received distress call, resulting in the putting off of the fire.

No life was lost, while minimal property packed at ground stairs were lost.

Meanwhile some of the tenants of the building who sustained varying degrees of burns and injuries, including a man who had to jump from the first floor and another woman who had her four children trapped in the upper floor and rescued, thanked GOD for sparing their lives.

The people equally thanked the Enugu State Fire Service and the good samaritans for their timely intervention which saw the fire being subdued.

Reacting, the Director of Enugu State Fire Service, Mr Okwudili Oha advised the people to shun actions that could facilitate fire disasters such as storing of combustible materials near electricity meters.

Mr Oha equally encouraged the people of Enugu State to switch of and unplug their electrical appliances when going out.

He equally urged the people to avoid Bush burning, particularly this dry season to avoid fire disasters.
