Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State and other governorship candidates have signed a Peace Accord ahead of the November 8 gubernatorial election.
Speaking during the event, Governor Soludo emphasized the importance of peaceful elections for democracy to thrive in Anambra and expressed confidence in INEC’s ability to conduct a successful election.
Earlier in a speech,Chairman of the Nigeria Peace Committee, Abdulsalami Abubarka represented by General Martin-Luther Agwai highlighted Anambra’s significance in Nigeria, emphasizing that democracy should reflect the people’s will.
He stressed the importance of honouring democratic principles to ensure the election’s credibility and legitimacy, setting a positive example for the country.
For the Convener National Peace Committee, Bishop Hassan Kukah, there’s need for fairness and honour in the electoral process.
Key stakeholders, including INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a peaceful, free, and credible election.
