Thirty -three underaged girls have been rescued by the operatives of the Police Command attached to the Rapid Response Squad Awkuzu, Anambra State.
This followed a breakthrough in an ongoing investigation involving a case of kidnapping, abduction, missing children and child trafficking.
The operatives have arrested a female suspect, one Success Anthony who is 37 years old.
The feat followed a distress report received through the Police Command Control Room from the victim’s relatives on how their three female children who were abducted since 26th September 2025, in Ebonyi State, were sighted at Emma Pigin Road, Aguleri, Anambra State.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the building where the girls were, was allegedly used for child trafficking and prostitution and owned by one Mrs. Ngozi Nnanyelugo who is 45 years, and is currently at large.
A release by the Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga says efforts are currently ongoing to arrest the principal suspect, while investigations continue to determine the full extent of the crime and identify other accomplices.
The statement states that further developments will be communicated in due course to members of the public.
It notes that the Police Command in Anambra state remains committed to protecting lives, especially vulnerable children, and urges members of the public to continue providing useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
