A philanthropist and Founder of the Baywood Ibe Foundation, Emperor Baywood Ibe, has called on well-to-do individuals in society to help alleviate the suffering of the masses by providing food items and scholarships for indigent persons, especially during this period.
Emperor Ibe made the call at his country home in Isuawa, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, while distributing food items worth millions of naira to 1,050 indigent families drawn from 21 communities in Awgu LGA.
According to him, the humanitarian gesture was inspired by the legacy of his late mother, Lady Eunice Nwabugwu Ibe, a nonagenarian who was known for her compassion and consistent support for the less privileged in society.
Items distributed included bags of rice, cartons of vegetable oil, seasonings, and other essential food items. Emperor Ibe explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected by community leaders under the Save Awgu Forum to ensure that the assistance reached the truly indigent and brought meaningful relief to them.
He emphasized that the foundation remains committed to supporting vulnerable members of society and promoting compassion, unity, and shared responsibility within the community.
Some of the beneficiaries, whose joy knew no bounds, including Mrs. Justina Ndukwe from Mgboh, Mrs. Geraldine Ogbodo, and Mr. Jude Orji from Owelle Court, expressed gratitude to Emperor Baywood Ibe, whom they described as an illustrious son of Isuawa community.
They thanked him for always remembering the poor in Awgu Local Government Area and offered prayers for the repose of the soul of his late mother, Lady Eunice Nwabugwu Ibe, who passed away at the age of 90.
