OTTI INSPECTS UMUAHIA CENTRAL BUS TERMINAL, EXPRESSES SATISFACTION WITH PROGRESS

Alex Otti of Abia state says he is happy with the pace of construction work at the Umuahia Central Bus Terminal.Governor Otti who stated this while inspecting the level of construction work at the site equated the project to the Paddington Terminal in the United Kingdom that has rail, road, and commercial services in one location.While expressing optimism that the landmark project will transform transport services in the State, the Governor noted that the idea behind the multimodal transportation system is to centralize all transport activities in the Capital City in one central location to stand as a one-stop transport hub for all commuters and passengers.Also at the inspection, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Ukegbu, noted out that the Umuahia Central Bus Terminal aimed at having a one stop transition hub for commuters and passengers.He disclosed the plans of the state government to replicate this same centralized terminal in Aba, the commercial nerve center of that State.On accommodation for late-night travellers, the Commissioner explained that a guest house was not part of the design, but waiting spaces have been created for arrival passengers.
