Abia state government has inaugurated a Joint Agricultural Intervention Project and 17 new Farm Managers for the various Local Government Areas of the state.

Flagging-off the project at JAAC Secretariat in Umuahia, Governor Alex Otti urged the newly inaugurated Farm Managers to be committed, focused and resilient in carrying out the duties.

Governor Otti who was represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Uzor Nwachukwu said that the intervention project aimed at revolutionizing agriculture in the state.

According to him, the project is entirely driven by the local government but collaborating with the state government to accelerate it.

The Governor, who listed different kinds of agriculture activities each LGA has chosen to major in, ranging from piggery, feed mill and maggot farming, ginger, cassava processing plant, poultry farm, pepper farming, pepper processing plants among others, charged trainees from every local government to prioritize the trainings as the farm managers overseeing the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the Mayors of the 17 LGAs, the representative of the ALGON Chairman and Mayor of Bende LGA, Deacon Uwabunkeonye Bassey, commended Governor Alex Otti and the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for the initiative and advised the farm managers to ensure that the goal of the project is achieved.

Responding on behalf of newly inaugurated 17 farm managers, Dr. Glory Nwaogbe promised to live up to expectations and thanked the Governor for the opportunity granted to them to serve the state in such capacity.
