The Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) and the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI), United Kingdom, have agreed to cooperate to provide a strong platform for sharing ideas on best practices and standards in town planning.The President of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Dr. Ogbonna Chime, disclosed this in Abuja, saying the collaboration would help address urban planning challenges confronting many cities across Nigeria.Dr. Chime noted that the agreement would facilitate mutual visits and professional exchanges, while also highlighting the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the United Kingdom.He explained that the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two reputable institutions would enhance professionalism, with young Nigerian planners gaining significantly through the exchange of ideas on practice, knowledge and standards.The NITP President added that discussions on the need for the MoU began on January 23, 2025, at the RTPI office in London, when he attended the inauguration ceremony of Mrs. Helen Fadipe as the 111th President of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
