Nigeria Institute of Public Relations,NIPR, Enugu state Chapter has called on government agencies and institutions to ensure that only certified practitioners handle their Communications sector to reduce quackery and misinformation in the society.
The Chaiman of ,NIPR, in Enugu state,Dr Faustinus ILO made the call at the NIPR ,Enugu state Chapter strategic Engagement session which centred more on caderisation of membership held in Enugu.
Dr Ilo maintained that the call became necessary considering the fact that credibility and the reputation of the profession was at stake.
Also contributing to the caderisation of membership of NIPR,a member and permanent secretary Ministry of Trade and Investment, Mr Ifeanyi Onah advised the body to ensure that they implement the framework and processes through which it would be carried out.
In a keynote address ,titled Effects of Reputation Management with National Development in a crisis situation :Nigeria perspective ,The Executive Director Coal city business school, Professor Ifeanyichukwu Ugochukwu who explained that public relations must gear towards good will and mutual understanding towards promoting positive relationships urged
members to be conscious of their reputation ,investigate issues before arriving at a conclusion .
Correspondent Nonso KALU reports that the strategic meeting which featured safety tips on the use of electricity , question and answer sessions was also attended by the traditional ruler of Ugwuaji,Igwe Chinedu Nwobodo,the MD/CEO Main power Electricity Distribution Company and a representative of the Zonal Director,FRCN Enugu Zonal station,Mr Rex Eze.
