Faith leaders across Anambra State have been urged to integrate road-safety messages into their sermons and church programmes as part of a renewed effort to curb road crashes in the area.
The Anambra State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, stated this during a special thanksgiving service marking the 2025 World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Maryland, Amawbia, Anambra State.
Corps Commander Asekhauno who presented recent road-safety statistics from across the state, outlined major causes of crashes, including over speeding, disobedience to traffic signals, and other dangerous driving behaviours.
She warned motorists against drunk driving, the use of mobile phones while driving, and reckless overtaking practices which she attributed to have continued to claim innocent lives.
The FRSC boss in Anambra State emphasized the vulnerability of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists, urging motorists to exercise greater caution and patience on the road.
Corps Commander Asekhauno reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to working with faith-based groups and other community stakeholders to build a stronger culture of safety across the state.
