Ahead of the forthcoming Anambra Gubernatorial Election, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Corps Marshal Shehu Muhammad, has deployed 1,500 personnel and logistics vehicles across the state to ensure a smooth , safe and orderly election process.
Mr Shehu stated this during the deployment briefing in Awka.
Representied by the Assistant Corps Marshall, Federal Operations, Mr S. T. Agure, Mr Shehu, urged personnel of the corps to remain professional, civil, and easily identifiable in their uniforms while on duty.
The Corps Marshall warned against overzealousness and conduct that could tarnish the image of the corps.
Mr Muhammed Shehu further emphasized that all vehicles certified by the Corps must be roadworthy and directed personnel to work in close coordination with other security agencies during the election.
In a speech, the Anambra Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, spoke about some activities already undertaken in preparation for the election in the area.
Commander Asekhauno also disclosed that additional FRSC personnel and logistics vehicles had been mobilized from neighboring states like Edo, Delta, Imo, and Enugu ,to strengthen operations within Anambra.
She announced that, in collaboration with other security agencies, all entry points into the state will be blocked from 12:00 midnight on Friday to restrict unauthorized movement during the election period.
According to her, a strategy has been mapped out to ensure the free flow and timely movement of electoral materials between designated points, stressing that an officer has been assigned to the situation room, alongside personnel from other security agencies, to monitor and report any emergencies.
