The Nigerian Army has again reaffirmed it’s unwavering commitment to the fight against insurgency in the country through personnel training and manpower development.

The Chief of Army staff, Major General Walid Shaibu stated this in a message to senior officers at the Second Regimental Sergent Major’s Convention holding in Enugu.

The Chief of Army staff who was represented by the Commander Armoured Corps, Major General Umar Abubakar re- emphasised the key roles of the RSM’s under the military hierarchy and the need to equip them with updated operational guidelines for success in ongoing operations.

While urging the participants to make the best of the convention,the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigeria Army Major General Oluremi Fadairo who was represented by the the 82 Division Garrison Commander Brigadier General Steven Dogo noted that RSMs form a crucial link between officers and soldiers which he noted was necessary for operational efficiency.

Delivering a message at the occasion, on behalf of the Chief of Administration Nigeria Army, the Director Personnel services Nigerian Army Mr. Mohammed Gambo, explained that the choice of Enugu city for the Convention was due to the serene environment which he said would also provide the needed atmosphere for deep reflection and deliberations going on at the convention.

The Second Regimental Sergent Major’s Convention which is expected to last till Friday this week will feature key lectures on Fostering Unit Identity, Morale and Loyalty through Regimental Culture. and Combating Substance Abuse among Troops; Early detection and prevention.
