The Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Ecclesiastical Province, the Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, has called on Christians to purify the temple of God by living lives rooted in holiness, truth, and virtue at all times and in all places.
The Most Reverend Okeke made the appeal in a homily at the Queen of the Rosary College (QRC) School Chapel in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Archbishop Okeke described a chapel as “a little church” that offers students, families, and the wider community a sacred space for prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth.
He observed that, in the Old Testament, God commanded the building of temples in His honour and commended the students for their impressive academic standards and urged them to guard against sinful behaviors such as wickedness, hatred, and jealousy, which he said can desecrate the temple of God.
The Principal of the College, Reverend Sister Maria Nwankwo, expressed joy over the school’s academic achievements while applauding the Old Girls Association for their steady support and active involvement in sustaining QRC’s reputation as one of the leading schools in the state.
An Old student of the school, Doctor. Ifeyinwa Manafa, noted that the union has continued to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the school and listed the renovation of the chapel, clinic, and library as part of the projects undertaken to ensure a conducive learning environment and to strengthen the students’ moral formation.
Also speaking, Lolo Idu Okeahialam also applauded the principal for maintaining the school’s tradition of academic excellence, explaining that the school played a major role in shaping the lives of its graduates across the world.
