As the ongoing electronic re-registration of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) gains momentum in Enugu State, a former Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr. Osita Okechukwu, has re-registered at his Eke Ward in Udi Local Government Area, expressing strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his reform agenda.
Mr. Okechukwu said the e-registration exercise would enhance orderliness within the party and help actualize the vision of the APC leadership to enthrone good governance, while also galvanizing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking after completing his registration, the former VON boss called on Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s reforms, describing them as germane and well-intended efforts aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy.
According to him, the reforms are already yielding positive outcomes across critical sectors, including the petroleum industry, and therefore deserve continuity.
Mr. Okechukwu also commended the Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, for what he described as bold steps to reposition the state within the centre of national politics and development, while applauding his developmental strides across key sectors.
He further appealed to governments at all levels to intensify efforts in job creation and security enhancement, noting that improved security would encourage citizens to register and participate actively in the electoral process.
Expressing optimism, he said a second term for President Tinubu would bring greater benefits to the masses if given the opportunity.
Also speaking, an APC stakeholder and community leader, Chief Emeka Udeh, said political activities in Enugu State historically began in Eke community. He appealed for improved security in the area and the rehabilitation of the Eke–Egede Road.
Chief Udeh expressed delight over Governor Peter Mbah’s alignment with the APC, praising his achievements in education, healthcare delivery, infrastructure development and other sectors.
In a separate interview, another APC stakeholder and former Publicity Secretary of the party in Enugu State, Mrs. Kate Offor, advised party members to take full advantage of the e-registration exercise in preparation for future elections.
She praised President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, noting that while progress had been recorded in some sectors, the president deserved encouragement to further improve on his reforms.
The exercise attracted several ward members who provided their National Identification Number (NIN), voter registration number, email addresses and other vital details.
Other stakeholders present included a Federal Commissioner with the National Population Commission, Mr. Ejike Eze; a community leader, Mr. Steve Igweze; Mr. Chibuzor Onyeama; and other party leaders in Eke Ward, who accompanied the former VON boss during the exercise.
