The Permanent Secretary, Anambra State Ministry of Education, Dr. Ifeoma Agbaizu, has reiterated the state government’s firm stance on full compliance with Monday work resumption by all public servants, stressing that absenteeism on Mondays will no longer be tolerated.
Dr. Agbaizu made this known during a meeting with Heads of Departments in the Ministry.
She disclosed that the Governor of Anambra State made the position clear and unequivocal during the recent meeting of the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC), noting that the administration has resolved to enforce strict adherence to official duties on Mondays across all sectors.
According to the Permanent Secretary, measures have been put in place to ensure full compliance, including the personal signing of attendance registers by staff, which will be closely monitored for any irregularities or discrepancies in signatures.
She added that the attendance registers will undergo thorough scrutiny by the Ministry of Finance before the processing and payment of salaries.
Dr. Agbaizu further explained that Monday attendance has been adopted as a key benchmark for salary payment, emphasizing that salaries will henceforth be tied strictly to actual presence and number of days worked.
She warned that any violation of the directive will attract severe consequences, including the forfeiture of salary for the affected period, as payments will now be calculated based on verified attendance.
The Ministry of Education therefore called on all staff, school administrators, and educators to fully align with the policy in support of the state government’s efforts to promote discipline, productivity, and accountability in the public service.
