There is a wild jubilation in Awka,the Anambra state capital as INEC announced Professor Charles Soludo as the winner of the 2025 governorship election in the state.
Radio Nigeria went to town to sample the opinions of the people immediately the results of the election were announced .
One of the respondents and a former lawmaker in the state,Mr Pete Ibida,described the verdict as a victory for democracy.
Mr Ibida explained that the re-election of Professor Soludo would enable him to complete the on-going projects in the state.
A petty trader in the area,Mrs Adaeze Chukwu,was of the opinion that governor Soludo was doing well in the state, especially in the area of projects execution, stressing the need for continuity.
Another respondent and a business man,Mr John Udeozor, expressed happiness over the results, emphasizing that the good work the state government was doing would go on uninterrupted.
Also,a civil servant in the state,Mrs Angela Ekwedike,commended INEC for the free and fair election conducted in the state, pointing out that Professor Soludo would continue to provide dividend of democracy to the people of the state, especially the civil servants.
An international observer,Miss Faith Nwadishi had a different opinion about the election.
Correspondent Kevin Ekediegwu reports that Miss Nwadishi said the election was marred with vote buying and late arrival of INEC officials and materials at various polling units in the state.
