The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure has carried out an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing internal road and drainage construction at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Uli Campus.
During the visit, the lawmakers inspected the 4.2-kilometre road project awarded by the Anambra State Government to improve accessibility and strengthen critical infrastructure within the institution.
Speaking during the inspection, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Emma Nwafor, said the exercise was part of the Assembly’s statutory oversight function to ensure strict compliance with approved specifications and quality standards.
Mr. Nwafor noted that construction materials on site, including concrete mix and reinforcement components, met required engineering standards. He assured that the committee would sustain close monitoring to guarantee timely completion and long-term durability of the project.
Also speaking, a member of the committee and representative of Ihiala Constituency I, Mr. Jude Ngobili, described the project as a clear indication of the growing strategic importance of the COOU Uli Campus within the university system.
He commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for keeping faith with his commitment to improving infrastructure in state-owned institutions, describing the project as a significant boost to educational development in the area.
The Students’ Union Government (SUG) Governor, COOU Uli Campus, Mr. Uchenna Daniel, speaking on behalf of the students, said the ongoing transformation has greatly enhanced students’ morale and overall learning experience.
He expressed appreciation to the state government for the newly constructed entrance gates and road network, noting that the developments have restored confidence among students.
Earlier, the Project Manager of the contracting firm, Mr. Christian Mmadubueze, disclosed that drainage construction has reached about 90 percent completion, while earthworks are currently at approximately 80 percent.
