Abia State Government says its proposed 25-year development plan has a Legislative backing designed to survive political transitions.
Speaking to Newsmen at the Government House after this Week’s Executive Council Meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Kingsley Anosike, said the Legislative backing would strengthen its continuity across successive administrations in the state.
Mr Anosike explained that the Legal Framework also marks a major withdrawal from the previous administration’s 30-year Development plan, which he said, lacked Statutory Protection.
According to the Commissioner, the revised document became necessary because the original 2020 plan was focused by the uncertainties of the COVID-19 era.
He pointed out that the review was carried out in collaboration with major international development organizations to produce a more robust and future-proof plan for the state.
