Governor Alex Otti of Abia state says he has granted a Leave of Absence to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Keneth Kalu to enable him to attend to some crucial domestic matters in Canada.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma said Governor Otti announced the SSG’s Leave of Absence during the State Executive Council Meeting.
The statement explained that the Leave of Absence approval by Governor Otti followed the inability of Professor Kalu to work remotely.
According to the statement, prior to the appointment of Professor Kalu, he was a Senior University Don in Canada but took a leave of Absence to be part of Governor Otti’s campaign and was later appointed the SSG following the Governor’s victory at the polls.
Governor Otti thanked him for the excellent services he rendered to the State during his stay as Secretary to the State Government and wished him well as he proceeds his leave.
Responding to the Governor at the floor of the State Executive Council, Professor Kalu expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for the opportunity to serve in a government and assured his Colleagues his continued contribution to ensuring the development of the state even from afar.
