Governor Alex Otti of Abia state is to unveil a 25-year Development Plan anchored on a collective vision for economic resilience, infrastructural expansion, social advancement and generational security.

Briefing Newsmen at the Government House Umuahia after this week’s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Otti, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu said the strategic document is structured around six key pillars: people and resources, growth and stability amongst others.

According to the Commissioner, the targeted Development plan will improve a dynamic and inclusive economy by unlocking local potential and attracting global investment across key sectors.

On health, the Information Commissioner announced that the partnership between the State Ministry of Health and Global Health Organisations has continued to place Abia in the spotlight.

While stressing that a recent reports from the Ministry of Health indicated that such interventions have saved the State more than ₦2.5 billion in Healthcare costs, saved many lives, Prince Kanu pointed out that the Abia Global Medical Mission will this month carry out a medical outreach in collaboration with the State Government.
Prince Kanu noted that 81 out of the 102 Primary Health Centres listed in the First Phase of Project Ekwueme had all been equipped and operational, while the remaining 98 PHCs will become operational in the New Year.

Answering questions on alleged kidnapping incidents along the Owerrinta–Airport Road, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma, said the claims are unverified and assured the public that the Otti led administration is fully committed to securing the lives and property of the residents especially as the festive periods approach.
