The Wife of the Abia State Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti has urged inmates of the Correctional facilities to embrace positive transformation and shun reoffending actions to ensure their freedom.

Mrs Otti who gave the charge when she paid a Humanitarian visit to the Arochukwu Correctional Facility reassured the inmates of their worth and reaffirmed their place in society.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Chinenye Nwaka who represented the wife of the Governor emphasized that Correctional facilities exist not as places of rejection, but centres for reformation and preparation for a more productive life after custody.

Mrs Otti expressed optimism that the inmates would emerge renewed from the process and empowered to contribute meaningfully to society stressing that the visit was to remind them that they were not abandoned or forgotten.

Earlier in her remarks, the Controller of Correctional Facilities in charge of Abia state Mrs. Ifeoma Nwanyanwu commended Mrs. Otti for her sustained compassion and unwavering support for inmates across the state and described the Wife of the Governor as a reliable partner of the correctional system.

Mrs. Nwanyanwu expressed gratitude for the cash and food stuff donated during the visit and noted that the gesture would greatly enhance the feeding and overall welfare of the inmates.

The Comptroller assured the wife of the Governor that her interventions would be extended beyond the Arochukwu facility to other centres in Abia State.

Items donated to the Arochukwu Correctional Facility include cash, bags of rice, gallons of vegetable oil, cartons of tin tomatoes and other household items.
