Over 3000 persons have benefitted from the benevolence of Reverend Father Emmanuel Obimma, popularly known as Ebube Muonso in Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra state.

The beneficiaries, including widows, youths and the elderly, received bags of rice and other food items, together with cash gifts after being fed with sumptuous meals.

Speaking during a brief mass ahead of the distribution, the cleric, said the gesture which had become an annual event was targeted at alleviating the plights of the vulnerable.

He also promised to increase the allowances of the elderly who had been on his payroll.

Reverend Father Obimma said that he had been doing this for over 24 years, even before he was ordained a priest.

The Traditional Ruler of Nkwelle Ezunanka, Igwe Obiora Anachuna appreciated the priest for his magnanimity, praying God to bless him with long life and good health.

Igwe Anachuna also appealed to Father Obimma to remember the community in his daily prayers over the crisis rocking the area.

Also speaking, a philanthropist, Chief Vitalis Nwakaobi, described the benefactor as a role model and cleric per excellence.

Chief Nwakaobi noted that he was not surprised with the gesture Ebube Muonso was carrying out and also urged others to emulate him.

A former federal Lawmaker, Chief Chinedu Eluemuno, described Ebube Muonso as a philanthropist by nature, saying the whole essence of the gesture was to alleviate poverty and burdens of the poor.

Radio Nigeria correspondent, Nkiru Egwui reports that some of the beneficiaries of the gesture expressed happiness over the humanitarian services offered to people by Father Obimma.
