Governor Alex Otti of Abia State says all is set for the launch of 20 sets of 40 seater electric buses to ameliorate the pains of commuters in the state.

Briefing Newsmen at the Government House Umuahia after this week’s Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti, the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu said the, 40-seater electric buses, were equipped with advanced safety features and a 400km driving range.

The Commissioner explained that the state government is still expecting another 20 buses next year.

Also resolved at the Executive Council was the state assented Start-Up Bill, a move that aimed at transforming the state into a leading tech hub in Nigeriia

According to him, the bill implements the Nigerian Start-Up Act 2022 and focuses on fostering innovation, developing tech-enabled startups, and nurturing digital talents.

The Commissioner for Information pointed out that the law would be applied to companies in the State and startups holding the label under the National Act.

He further explained that 850 youths would be graduate from the second cohort of the Abia Tech Rise ICT training, bringing the total number of graduates to 1,399 in 2025.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement as the yuletide approaches.

He maintained that Security agencies were on 24-hour alert to ensure the safety of lives and property during, before and after the festive periods.
