The Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, has mobilized two thousand personnel for traffic control and safety operations during the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The personnel, made up of regular and special marshals, have been deployed to key traffic points across the state, particularly around the Niger Bridge, the Second Niger Bridge, and major routes within Onitsha. Tow trucks have also been positioned to promptly remove broken-down vehicles and other obstructions, while an ambulance has been provided for emergency rescue services.

The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Anambra State, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhuno, stated this during a courtesy visit to the Onitsha Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Nzota Chidi.

According to Corps Commander Asekhuno, the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the FRSC and the police during the festive period.

She emphasized the need for sustained joint operations to ensure public safety and a smooth flow of traffic.

In his response, the Onitsha Area Commander, ACP Nzota Chidi, assured the FRSC of the full support of the Nigeria Police Force and pledged the deployment of police officers to work closely with FRSC personnel to ensure a safer driving environment throughout the Christmas and New Year festivities.

The Federal Road Safety Corps has also appealed to motorists and residents of Anambra State to cooperate with traffic officials and obey traffic regulations to ensure a hitch-free movement during the festive season.
