Governor Chukwuma Soludo has shown great interest towards repositioning the Anambra State Polytechnic in Mgbakwu, Awka North Local Government Area.
The Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Mr Ejike Okechukwu alongside other members stated this during a bilateral discussion between them and the Management of the Institution.
According to them, the Governor has shown total commitment towards uplifting the status of the Polytechnic through his 2026 budgetary appropriations for the school.
The law makers noted that while a paltry sum was made for the institution in the past, the 2026 provisions show that the Executive arm has decided to change the narrative and empower them for greater exploits.
The 2026 appropriation earmarks 650 million naira for the construction of classroom blocks, 500 million naira was approved for the perimeter fencing of the institution while 200 million naira was estimated to undertake the accreditation of Ordinary National Diploma ( OND ) level in the institution.
Also in the 2026 budget bill was provision for the installation of street lights at the cost of 120 million naira and having a befitting administrative block at 120 million naira.
The Rector , Anambra State Polytechnic, Mgbakwu, Doctor Njideka Chiekezie while thanking the law makers for being considerate for the future of the education sector , expressed the hope that when the six projects budgeted for were attended to in 2026 budget , the institution would no doubt operate on o sound footing.
Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation and that of Education jointly approved the sun of 1 billion , 710 million naira for capital expenditure and 203 million, 93 thousand , 126 naira for the Recurrent expenditure of the Polytechnic for 2026.
