Governor Alex Otti of Abia state has pledged continued effort to ensure the freedom of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

Governor Otti made the pledge when he visited the Leader of the Indigenous People Of Biafra IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu at the Sokoto Correctional Centre, Sokoto State.

In a statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma explained that the Governor advised Mazi Kanu to remain calm but strong and assured him that the engagements he initiated over two years ago were still in progress in spite the court judgment.

He further assured Mazi Kanu that the issue would be resolved administratively to ensure his freedom.

Governor Otti expressed joy that the Sultan of Sokoto is on the same page with him on the need for Kanu’s freedom and de-escalation of tension, and informed Mazi Kanu that the Sultan of Sokoto has accepted him as one of his subject.

Responding, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who could not hide his joy when he saw Governor Otti thanked him for the visit, stressing that he was not surprised for the prompt visit of Governor Alex Otti as he had done the same in the past.

While speaking on the notes of the feedbacks he got from home front since Governor Otti assumed office, Mazi Kanu commended the Governor for his giant strides in Abia state and stressing he is replicating the good deeds of Late Sam Mbakwe the Governor of Old Imo State and appealed to him to continue to serve the people diligently.

The IPOB leader told Governor Otti that he is only interested in good governance and anything that could better the lot of the people, and prayed God to continue to be with the Governor and his team as they serve the people of the state.

The Governor who paid the visit alongside notable government officials also has in attendance with Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu.
