Abia state government has reaffirmed its commitment to attracting global partnerships and unlocking new economic opportunities.
Governor Alex Otti made this known while declaring open the first Abia-Turkiye investment Summit & Product Exhibition at the International Conference Centre Ogwurube Layout Umuahia.

Governor Otti explained that the summit represented a major step towards expanding Abia’s economic frontiers and positioning the State as an emerging destination for manufacturing, Agriculture, SME development and Industrial innovation.

He urged the Turkish investors to explore opportunities in Agriculture, Textile production as well as engage with local business owners to build partnerships that would strengthen Abia’s position in the global market.

In his speech, the Commercial Councilor of the Turkish Embassy in Nigeria, Fatih Tonzogho, said Turkey is committed to strengthening global partnerships adding that the country’s engagement with Africa has been a deliberate and consistent state policy since its launch by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in 2003.

Mr Tonzogho who described Africa with over 1.5 billion people and a GDP exceeding 3.5 trillion USD as a continent for the future of global economic growth and called for sustained collaboration with Abia state government.

The Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr Salome Obiukwu, in her remarks described the Abia–Turkiye Investment Summit as a strategic move to deepen economic cooperation and attract global partnerships and stressed that the initiative underscores access for business and innovation.

Correspondent Peace Agbo reports that the three days summit with the theme: “Bridging Continents, Unlocking Prosperity” which attracted investors and international delegates is aimed at fostering mutual beneficial economic Partnerships and deepening bilateral trade and investments between Abia State, the Republic of Turkiye and Nigeria in general.
