Catholic faithful in Awka joined their counter parts across the christendom to celebrate the feast of Christ the king popularly called Corpus Christi.

In a message. at Saint Patrick Cathedral, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor urged christians to always devote their lives to prayer especially for Nigeria in distress.

Bishop Ezeokafor advised the faithful not to be afraid to work towards the establishment of God’s kingdom in all they do and in all that falls within their responsibility.

He said, christians should honour and recognize Jesus as their Sovereign King and emulate His total gift of selflessness, perfectly embodied on the cross.

He charged leaders to always recognize that they are bound to submit and give respect to Christ the king and love one another because He is the giver of life.

The Catholic Bishop of Awka, therefore urged christians to always put their trust in God, in spite of all the challenges facing the country.

Correspondent Nkiru Egwui reports that more than one million Catholic faithful matched through the streets of Awka singing and dancing to celebrate the feast of Christ the king.
