Anambra State Governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has received certificate of returns from Independent National l Electoral Commission ( INEC ).
Governor. Soludo, the APGA candidate, secured 422,664 votes to defeat his closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the APC, who garnered 99,445 votes.
The certificate was presented by the INEC National Commissioner in charge of Anambra State, Mr Kenneth Ukeagu,who commended the people of Anambra State for their peaceful conduct and determination to exercise their franchise.
He praised the commitment of all political parties and candidates who contested, demonstrating faith in the electoral process.
In his acceptance speech, Governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo described his victory as unprecedented, thanking God and the people of Anambra State for their trust and confidence.
Governor Soludo pledged to work towards bringing more development to the people, noting that the votes exceeded previous records.
The Governor appreciated President Bola Tinubu for allowing the will of the people to prevail and expressed confidence in the improvement of the electoral process.
He extolled the new Chairman of INEC, Professor Joash Amupitan ,for demonstrating integrity in the use of technology and functional BVAS, saying INEC deserves accolades.
Meanwhile, the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Jude Ezenwafor had congratulated the Governor -elect , Chukwuma Soludo for his landslide victory, pledging to partner the state governor to bring more development to the state .
Correspondent Ben Ilechukwu reports that the Governor called on other contestants to join hands to build and develop Anambra to a livable and prosperous homeland.
