NYSC: SOLUDO URGES CORPS MEMBERS TO KEY INTO ONE YOUTH, TWO SKILLS PROGRAMME

The Anambra State Government wants National Youth Service Corps members posted to the state to key into the one youth two skills programme of the present administration in the state almed at equipping youths with skills, enterprise opportunities and access to business financing.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo made the call at the 2026 Batch C stream 1 Orientation Course held at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Unity Permanent Orientation Camp Umuawulu/Mbaukwu.
Represented by the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Mr Patrick Agha- Mba, Governor Soludo said it was imperative for the corps members to use the period of the service year to acquire skills and competence needed in the global economy.

  "Through our one youth two skills we have invested in the empowerment of our young people.  

The first phase empowered 5000 young people with about ₦2 billion grant while the second phase empowered 8300 young people with ₦3.5 billion in grants equipping them with skills, enterprise opportunities and access to business financing which some of your predecessors were beneficiaries of the programme.

The third phase would soon commence and I urge you to take advantage of the programme.’

Governor Soludo further noted that his administration was currently building an innovation ecosystem designed to equip youths in the area with digital skills and support startups as well as connect their talents to global opportunities.

He therefore urged corps members to take advantage of every opportunity available to them during the service year including the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development SAED Programme conducted in the camp.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development represented by the Permanent Secretary Mr Ifeatu Emordi advised the corps members to be disciplined, patriotic and responsible.
He also enjoined them to be security conscious and report suspicious activities promptly.

Earlier, the Coordinator National Youth Service Corps in Anambra State, Mrs Pauline Ojisua explained that the Orientation Course was designed to build discipline, patriotism, leadership sills, national consciousness and the Spirit of peaceful coexistence among corps members.

Mrs Ojisua also said that the corps members would be equipped with skills and values that would make them useful to themselves and the nation.

Correspondent Rosemary Elee reports that 1620 Corps members comprising 682males and 938females have so far registered.
