The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has called on eligible voters to come out en masse and vote for its candidates in Saturday’s local government elections.
The call was made by guests on a special edition of Media Link, a Radio Nigeria Enugu live interactive programme, who highlighted what they described as the achievements of the APC-led administration in security, education, primary healthcare, road construction and other areas.
The Enugu State APC Chairman, Dr Martin Chukwunweike, said the party carefully selected its candidates through direct primaries and expressed support for the return of local government chairmen who performed well in their first tenure to consolidate their achievements.
Dr Chukwunweike said several local government councils had provided boreholes and streetlights through rural electrification, while Igbo-Etiti Local Government had received recognition for being open-defecation-free.
He also said virtually all the local government areas had established farm estates of about 200 hectares to promote agriculture and create employment opportunities.
The APC State Publicity Secretary, Mr Uche Obute, also commended the developmental initiatives of Governor Peter Mbah and urged voters to identify the APC candidates by the broom symbol on the ballot paper.
Mr Obute said the party had been campaigning across different local government areas and called for support for its chairmanship and councillorship candidates.
Some callers to the programme commended the APC for what they described as its performance in some sectors, while also calling for further improvements.
The Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) has scheduled the local government elections for Saturday, September 26, 2026, with elections to be held for 17 chairmanship and 260 councillorship positions.
