The federal government has trained and empowered one hundred youths in Anambra State on Modern Methods of Electrical Installation and Maintenance.
The beneficiaries who were drawn from Onitsha were trained with relevant practical and marketing skills to enable them to become self reliant and contribute to national building.
Some of the benefiting youths were qualified electricians who had no tools to work, while some were apprentices who were not sure of how to source funds to secure necessary equipment before they were selected for the training programme.
A research Engineer in the National Agency for Science and engineering Infrastructure, NASENI, Mr Magaji Katawu said the programme which was carried out under the Renewed Hope Agenda of the federal government is aimed at empowering the youths and creating job opportunities across the country.
He called on the beneficiaries to ensure proper use of the tools and train other youths in their localities to multiple the effects of the programme and the aspiration of President Bola Tinubu for young Nigerians.
In a remark the traditional ruler of Onitsha , Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe described the gesture by the federal government under President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” as impressive as it will go a long way to keep jobless youths off the streets across the country.
Igwe Achebe urged the federal and state governments to do more toward salvaging the country from its teeming unemployed youth in order to reduce the level of poverty and hunger ravaging most families and communities.
Some of the beneficiaries including Micheal Agunyego, Obed Onah and Ifeyinwa Nwatu described the training and empowerment as the first of its kind as it offered them full opportunity to become employers of labour.
They thanked the Federal government for the initiative promising to re train other youths as well as contribute to national development.
The five day intensive training and empowerment is being implemented across the nation as part of the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme.
