The Anambra State government has expressed concerns over the growing issues and crisis rocking various town unions across the state.
The Commissioner for local government , Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Mr. Vincent Ezeaka stated this shortly after appearing before the House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts on the review of the audited Accounts of the government of Anambra state ended 31st December 2025.
According to the Commissioner, Governor Chukwuma Soludo is no longer comfortable with the development in most of the communities and has directed that all misunderstanding be resolved for the interest of the people.
Mr Ezeaka said he has adopted Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, mechanism to put an end to the numerous court cases and summons across communities.
The Commissioner explained that so far through the process, crises in four communities have been resolved and peace returned.
He therefore called on presidents General and traditional rulers of various communities to collaborate with the Ministry to ensure that the remaining town unions embrace peace for the overall development of the state.
Mr . Ezeaka noted that the government was working hard to come up with a clear roles and responsibilities of the community leaders which has been the major cause of the fractions and crisis rocking the towns.
The Chairman House Committee on Public Accounts, Mr Noble Igwe said the ministry of local government was able to clarify their financial activities within the year under review.
According to him, available records and payment vouchers presented by the team from Ministry showed that they judiciously utilized the releases and approvals made for them.
