Police Operatives in Anambra State have neutralised four suspected armed gang members in Orumba South Local Government Area.
The operation took place on the evening of Tuesday 23rd June 2026 along the Ogboji–Ajalli Road following an armed confrontation with suspected secessionist armed gang members.
According to the Anambra State Police Command ,the team engaged the suspects during a visibility and confidence-building patrol based on credible intelligence on the movement of heavily armed gang members operating in a white Toyota Sienna bus.
A Press Statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra state, Mr Tochkwu Ikenga said security operatives recovered a substantial cache of weapons ammunition and other incriminating items from the scene.
The recovered exhibits include one General Purpose Machine Gun with 53 rounds of linked live ammunition two AK-47 rifles with two magazines twenty-nine rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition thirteen rounds of 5.56mm ammunition four undetonated Improvised Explosive Devices Police camouflage uniforms and accessories.
Also recovered are white Toyota Sienna bus with registration number KJA 919 KH from Lagos ten Android phones two feature phones one laptop computer one Point-of-Sale machine two power banks assorted charms two live cartridges ATM cards and identification documents including a National Identification Card and a Driver’s Licence.
Preliminary investigations indicate that other members of the gang fled into the surrounding bushes with varying degrees of gunshot injuries.
The Joint Security Team has intensified operations in the area with extensive combing and search efforts aimed at apprehending the fleeing suspects and recovering additional weapons and operational equipment.
The Anambra State Police Command reiterated its unwavering commitment in collaboration with other security agencies to sustaining proactive intelligence-led and results-oriented operations against criminal elements threatening the peace safety and security of residents across the State.
