The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Anambra State Sector Command, says it has commenced its 2026 Eid El-Kabir Special Patrol Operations across the state with the deployment of over two hundred and ten personnel, including regular officers and special marshals, to ensure safer roads and effective traffic management during the festive period.

The special operation, which began on May twenty-fifth and will end on May thirty-first, is part of the Corps’ annual intervention programme aimed at managing the expected increase in vehicular movement associated with the Eid El-Kabir celebration.

In a statement, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Anambra State, Bridget Asekhanuo, said the exercise was designed to intensify public enlightenment, reduce road crashes, fatalities and injuries, as well as ensure free flow of traffic and prompt response to emergencies on highways across the state.

Corps Commander Asekhanuo explained that operational equipment including patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, motorcycles, radar guns and breathalyzers have been fully deployed to support the exercise, with special attention given to traffic control around the Bridge Head area of Onitsha and other strategic routes.

She noted that the operation would focus on offences such as excessive speeding, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, and operation of mechanically deficient vehicles.

The FRSC boss in Anambra State further disclosed that mobile courts would be deployed for speedy prosecution of traffic offenders, while emergency response teams have been placed on maximum alert throughout the period.

According to her, the Command was also collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force, the Anambra State Traffic Management Agency and the Ocha Brigade to strengthen traffic control, security and emergency response during the festivities.

Corps Commander Asekhanuo urged motorists and other road users to obey traffic regulations, avoid dangerous driving habits and prioritize safety at all times.

The FRSC Anambra Sector Command wishes Muslim faithful a peaceful Eid El-Kabir celebration and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer roads across the state.
