The Anambra State Police Command has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Newton Isokpehi, for his involvement in a viral video where he was seen threatening violence and engaging in conduct unbecoming of a police officer.

In a Press Statement signed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Finance and Administration, DCP Ngozi Ezeabata the Command says that it acted swiftly after the video surfaced on social media and arrested the officer.

According to the statement internal disciplinary proceedings have been activated against the officer in line with the ethical standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

As part of the investigation, ASP Isokpehi has also been subjected to a drug test to establish all circumstances surrounding his behaviour.

Meanwhile the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Ikioye Orutugu has condemned the officer’s action, describing it as unacceptable.

He reiterated that the Force will not tolerate any form of misconduct, abuse of office or unprofessional behaviour capable of eroding public confidence in Nigeria Police
