The Anambra State Government says it is ready to partner Globacom Limited to accelerate the state’s transition into a leading digital hub in Nigeria.
The Secretary to the State Government Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake who stated this during a visit by the telecommunications group, noted that the state was undergoing extensive urban renewal and digital transformation.
Mrs Nnake said the administration was building new cities and expanding the boundaries of Awka and Onitsha, describing such projects as areas where public-private partnerships were critical.
She noted that the state had already established 22 smart schools and is scaling up telemedicine to deliver quality healthcare across all local government areas.
Earlier in a speech, Leader of the telecommunications delegation, Mr Adeniyi Odejoni, commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for investments in infrastructure, security, and road networks.
He said network which made SIM cards affordable for millions at its launch, is now evolving into a digital solutions company and has made significant investments across Anambra and nationwide.
Mr Odejoni pledged a mutually beneficial partnership that would provide high-speed dedicated internet for government operations, schools, and hospitals.
Also at the meeting, Special Adviser to the Governor on Innovation and Business Incubation and CEO of the Solution Innovation District, Ms. Chinwe Okoli, reinforced the administration’s focus on the innovation economy.
She said the government was working to equip Anambra’s youth with skills to compete globally.
