Anambra State Police Command says it’s operatives attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department have concluded investigations into several cases of sexual and child abuse-related offences.
The cases include that of a father who was accused of having an affair with his daughter and infested her with viral disease.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Anambra State, Tochukwu Ikenga explains that the five suspects involved in different sexually abuse cases that were investigated by the command would be arraigned before a Special Court sitting in Awka.
The statement further indicates that the Gender unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department last month received report of the defilement of a 16-year old girl, from Ogbunike Police Division.
According to the statement
Preliminary investigation into the matter shows that the suspect Chukwuemeka Chidiebere, a 26 years old security personnel in a housing estate in the area, allegedly forced himself on the victim while she was on her way to visit a friend within the estate.
He was said to have dragged her into an uncompleted building within the estate where he had unlawful carnal knowledge of her .
In a related matter
the command received a report of defilement of an 11 year old girl, from Neni Police Divisional Headquaters on the 23rd of last month.
The male suspect, Uchenna Muojama, aged 36 years, allegedly lured the victim inside his Barbing saloon where he forcefully had sex with her.
In a reaction , the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command Mr Ikioye Orutugu described the cases as heinous and unacceptable, and expressed the Command’s Commitment to protect vulnerable persons, especially children
He gave the assurance that all the offenders in the cases would be brought to justice.
