The Anambra State House of Assembly will commence the screening of the first batch of Commissioner nominees forward to it for confirmation by Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Thursday this week.

The commissioner nominees who are eighteen in number will be screened in batches.

The Speaker of the House, Somtochukwu Udeze, who led the decision of the lawmakers on the screening said it is in line with the constitutional responsibility of the Assembly as provided in Section 192(2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)

Radio Nigeria Correspondent Uche Ndeke reports that among the nominees are four old Commissioners and the mother of a slain fish businessman, Martin Onyekesi who was kidnapped in his home in Okpuno last year and killed.
