Over thirty five thousand indigent persons selected from across the thirteen Local government Areas of Ebonyi state are to benefit from Credit Card Money Transfer under the Federal government Social Investment Programme.
The Focal Person of the Programme who is also the State Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs Ann Aligwe stated this during the commencement of the exercise at Women Development Centre Abakaliki.
She noted that the Credit Cards contained thirty five thousand Naira and would be distributed under three circles with all the beneficiaries expected to receive seventy thousand Naira by the end of the Programme in May next month.
Mrs Aligwe said a team from the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs was in the state to activate the card with beneficiaries expected to present their National Identification Number for clearance.
One of the beneficiaries, Chinwereokwu Isude said she would invest the money in her petty business and appreciated the Federal and State government for the opportunity.
Correspondent Amechi Odo reports that over four thousand beneficiaries selected from Afikpo Local Government Area were in the first batch.
