The arraignment of Nnewi-based native doctor, Ikechukwu Ezenagu, popularly known as “Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya” arrested on the order of Anambra State government has been adjourned to June 3rd, 2026.

The adjournment came after an Anambra State High Court in Awka presided over by Justice Jude Obiora, found him unfit to take his plea due to poor health condition.

Before the defendant was brought into the courtroom on Friday, there was a mild drama over his health condition between the prosecution team, led by the Anambra State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Tobechukwu Nweke, SAN, and counsel to the defendant, Kingsley Awuka.

Speaking with journalists after the court proceedings, the prosecution counsel, Tobechukwu Nweke , said the state government was ready to proceed with the case, while counsel to the defendant, Kingsley Awuka, expressed the hope that his client would be medically fit to take his plea on the adjourned date.

The defendant Ikechukwu Ezenagu, was arrested on last month in Nnewi by the Operatives of Anambra Statei security outfit Udogachi.

He is being prosecuted for offences under the Anambra State Homeland Security Law.
