The need for Christians to listen to the voice of Jesus Christ and have good relationship with God who died on the Cross of Calvary because of their sins has been stressed.
A Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Clement Igwegbe in a Homily to mark the Good Friday at Saint Mary’s Parish Awka, Anambra state
noted that Good Friday Mass was where Christians demonstrated the biblical accounts of Jesus’s death.
Reverend Father igwegbe explained that Good Friday was a significant day in the Christian calendar marking the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary to save humanity, thus making man and God to be in good relationship.
He noted that Jesus was innocent as He did not commit any offence but the people accused Him of blasphemy and subsequently crucified Him.
He pointed out that God allowed Jesus to die to save man and it was because of sins of man that they killed Jesus, stressing that Jesus did the sacrifice in totality to save man which the animal sacrifice could not do.
Reverend Father Igwegbe urged christians to know that the life they were living was the handiwork of God, advising them to accept Christ and desist from negative attitude, live a worthy life and be steadfast in serving God with all their heart.
Radio Nigeria correspondent Nkiru Egwui reports that highpoints of the Good Friday Mass were bowing, touching and kissing of the cross to express gratitude and love for Jesus Christ.
