Victims of the bloody attack at Okporojo Community in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State have heaved a sigh of relief following the distribution of some basic household material to enable them to restart life.
During the event at Old Government House Abakaliki, Governor Francis Nwifuru said the state government was committed to resolving the boundary dispute which triggered the attack noting that the relief material was to ameliorate the sufferings of the victims.
The Governor who was represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Moses Odunwa urged the people of Okporojo and Amasiri to embrace peace noting that all measures taken were to stop further blood shed.
The Commissioner for Human Capital Development, Mrs Ann Aligwe said the items which include Mattresses, Bundles of Zinc, Cartons of Nails, Wrappers and Bags of rice would be distributed to fifty seven affected families while the families of four persons who were killed during the attack would be given two million Naira each.
One of the victims, Nkama Ukpai Ude urged the government to expedite action on the demarcation of the land to enable normal communal life to resume in the area.
