APC Enugu Holds Peaceful Congress, Elects Martin Chukwunwike as State Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Enugu State chapter, has concluded what it described as a journey of reconciliation and unity, electing a new State Executive Committee led by Dr. Martin Chukwunwike as Chairman.
The congress, held at the Michael Okpara Square, also marked the formal handover from the outgoing Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, who bowed out after overseeing the party’s rebuilding process ahead of the 2027 elections.
Caretaker Chairman Hands Over
Addressing delegates, Dr. Ben Nwoye expressed satisfaction at handing over what he described as a united and strengthened APC in Enugu State. He commended party leaders and stakeholders for their cooperation throughout the rebuilding period, noting that the foundation had been laid for victory in 2027.
Election by Affirmation
The election of the State Working Committee was conducted through affirmation by delegates.
Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, a former chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), emerged as the new State Chairman of the APC alongside 36 other executive members.
Other key officials elected include:
Mrs. Peace Patrick – State Vice Chairman
Mr. Onyinye Odibe – State Organising Secretary
Mrs. Esther Edeh – State Woman Leader
In his remarks, Dr. Chukwunwike assured members that the new leadership would consolidate on the rebuilding process and work towards delivering victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
National Leaders Commend Peaceful Conduct
A member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC commended delegates for the orderly conduct of the congress and praised Governor Dr. Peter Mbah for ensuring a peaceful atmosphere, as well as his efforts to make Enugu State the cleanest in Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Deputy National Chairman (South) of the APC, Chief Emma Enukwu, expressed delight at the calibre of persons elected to steer the affairs of the party in the state. He charged them to mobilise support across wards and local government areas to secure greater votes for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Peter Mbah and other APC candidates in 2027.
Lawmakers Express Optimism
Lawmakers who addressed the congress commended the peaceful conduct of the exercise and expressed confidence that the unity displayed would translate into electoral success.

Chief Chimobi Atu, Member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of Nigeria
They praised the National Working Committee for supervising the congress and urged members to remain united ahead of future elections.

The congress ended on a note of unity, with stakeholders expressing confidence in the new leadership’s ability to reposition the party for greater electoral success in Enugu State.
